About the tour
A full-day private excursion from Florence to two of Tuscany’s most famous medieval towns, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, with door-to-door hotel pickup in a luxury Mercedes Benz vehicle. The day begins in San Gimignano, known for its 14 medieval towers, where guests have free time to explore the walled town independently. From there, an optional stop at a Chianti winery can be added, visiting the cellars for a tour of wine production followed by a tasting and “aperitivo.” The day continues to Siena, where guests meet their official private guide for a 3-hour walking tour through the historic center, taking in Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Pubblico, the Duomo and Baptistry with works by Donatello and Ghiberti, the Church of San Domenico, and Palazzo Salimbeni. The private driver returns guests to their hotel in Florence at the end of the day.

Siena & San Gimignano day trip from Florence
With this driving guided day trip from Florence you will discover the two most famous medieval towns in Tuscany, both part of the UNESCO Heritage list: Siena and San Gimignano. The tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Florence (another custom location in the area can be agreed) with a luxury sedan or minivan.
Along a scenic drive you will reach the medieval town of San Gimignano and have some time to visit it on your own. As you crest the nearby hills, the 14 towers of the walled town of San Gimignano rise up like a medieval Manhattan. People visiting this old town are lured by a palpable sense of history, an intact medieval streetscapes and the enchanting rural setting.
After San Gimignano, if you wish, it will be possible to stop at a winery in the Chianti area (this is optional and not included). You will explore the heart of Tuscany where gentle hills have been covered by vineyards for many centuries. A wonderful countryside with renaissance castles and medieval churches particularly famous for the production of wine and olive oil. A visit of the estate, you’ll enter the cellars and learn about the wine production. Finally enjoy a wine tasting and “aperitivo”.
Then your driver will take you to Siena where you may have lunch to enjoy some of the excellent regional dishes. You will meet your official private guide and start a 3H walking tour in the historical center of the town. Effectively a giant, open-air museum celebrating the Gothic, Siena has spiritual and secular monuments that have retained both their medieval forms and their extraordinary art collections.
Narrow streets and beautiful ancient buildings with your guide that will lead you to the most important attractions and show you also hidden gems that are difficult to find: Piazza del Campo with Palazzo Pubblico, the Duomo cathedral and the Baptistry (with masterpieces from Donatello and Ghiberti), the Church of San Domenico and Palazzo Salimbeni.
At the end of the day, the tour will conclude and your private driver will take you back to your hotel in Florence or other desired location.
