About the tour
Bologna is one of Italy’s most vibrant cities, and it makes a great en-route stop on the journey between Florence and Venice. In Bologna, you’ll meet your official private guide for a 2-hour walking tour through the historic center. Starting in Piazza Maggiore, you’ll admire the grand 16th-century Fontana del Nettuno and the magnificent Basilica di San Petronio, a superb example of Gothic architecture. The tour continues through Piazza della Mercanzia and its lively surrounding streets, into the courtyard of the Archiginnasio, the former seat of the University of Bologna, Europe’s oldest university dating back to the 11th century. You’ll also visit the Church of Santa Maria della Vita, home to a breathtaking group of life-size Baroque terracotta sculptures, before finishing with a look up at the iconic leaning Asinelli and Garisenda towers. After your visit, your driver will continue the journey and drop you off at your destination in Florence or Venice. Please note that in Venice, the pickup and drop-off point is Piazzale Roma. A private water taxi between your hotel and Piazzale Roma can also be arranged as an optional add-on.

TRANSFER FLORENCE TO VENICE WITH STOP IN BOLOGNA – TRANSFER VENICE TO FLORENCE WITH STOP IN BOLOGNA
The transfer tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Florence or Venice (another custom location in the area can be agreed). You will enjoy a door-to-door private chauffeur service to your hotel from Florence to Venice or viceversa. During the transfer you’ll have an en-route stop in Bologna for a 2 hours guided tour.
You will meet your official private guide and start a walking tour in the historical center of Bologna. Starting with Piazza Maggiore, you’ll admire the 16th-century Fontana del Nettuno, which depicts the sea god Neptune in all his muscly glory. Make your way to the close Basilica di San Petronio, a superb example of Gothic architecture.
Continue on foot toward Piazza della Mercanzia and stroll around the narrow streets surrounding the square, where rows of vendors hawk local food products. Next, arrive at the courtyard of the Archiginnasio, the former seat of the University of Bologna, the Europe’s oldest dated back to the 11th century. After you will reach the Church of Santa Maria della Vita to admire a monumental group of life-size Baroque terracotta sculptures. Lastly cast your eyes skyward to view the leaning Asinelli and Garisenda towers.
After the visit of Bologna the trip will then conclude with the transfer to your hotel in Florence or Venice.
Please note that in Venice pick-up/drop-off location is Piazzale Roma. If you wish we can also organize a private water taxi from your hotel in Venice to the pick-up point in Piazzale Roma or viceversa.
