Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore day trip from Milan

The tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Milan (another custom location in the area can be agreed) with a luxury sedan or minivan. After 1,5H drive you will reach Stresa, our first tour site. You will spend a day at stunning Lake Maggiore in Italy’s beautiful Piedmont region with this day tour from Milan.

Upon arrival in Stresa, you will meet your licensed private guide who will lead you through this beautiful town. You’ll wander the picturesque streets of Stresa admiring the Borromean Islands just in front of you.

While in Stresa (or later in Orta San Giulio), there will be time for a lunch break enjoying the excellent culinary traditions of the area!

After that, the tour will proceed with a transfer to Orta San Giulio (Lake Orta), selected as one of the most beautiful Italian villages with quality heritage, by “I borghi più belli d’Italia”. The name Orta is a modification of the Latin “hortus conclusus”. Nowadays, the area is locally called “Cusio”, deriving from the latin name of the lake.

There, you can enjoy some free time for sightseeing and on board of a water-taxi, you will be able to visit one of the most remarkable sites of Orta: the San Giulio Island, located just in front of the town. A 275 by 140 meter little island which hosts a Benedictine monastery and only few other ancient buildings. Quiet and peaceful location, where you can also find a small chapel erected in the 5th century to commemorate Saint Julius, who had died there.

After Orta San Giulio, the tour will then conclude with a transfer back to your hotel in Milan or other desired location.
